60+ Years of Excellence

In 1949, Harold and Cleo began the first Amber Steel in San Diego, CA. A few years later, in 1954, Harold’s wife, Naomi and her brother, Art started Amber Steel in Rialto, California. Amazingly, Naomi was the first woman in California to obtain a C-50 contractors license for reinforcing steel.

Naomi’s son, Wayne got involved in Amber Steel at the age of 10 , chopping weeds and painting, truck driving and worked his way through every aspect of the company until he became the President and Owner of Amber Steel Co. Wayne and his wife Janet, led Amber Steel with confidence, passion and excellence, building strong connections with customers and their team.

Over the 6 decades of Amber Steel, the company has seen huge growth, going from a just rebar installation company to offering full service subcontracting with in-house estimating, detailing, fabrication, freight and placing via the local Iron Workers Union.

Wayne and Janet’s son, Kriss also began working at Amber Steel at the young age of 7. You would often find him back in the Amber Steel steel yard, learning how to cut rebar from the guys. As an iron worker himself for 20 years, he also worked his way up through the company, by learning how to fabricate, driving all of the trucks, delivering steel to job sites. He spent a few years on the sales team, as well as providing estimates and in 2016 officially took over as President and CEO of Amber Steel.

Over the last 60+ years, we have supplied around 500,000 TONS of rebar to our customers and we have been able to serve hundreds of customers, most who have remained loyal partners for decades. Amber Steel has a legacy of hard work, trustworthiness and dependability and we look forward to the future ahead for more growth.
